Our Campground is 100 feet from the beginning of the Virginia Creeper Trail

We have WiFi at the camp store.  The Achy Bum Café at the campground serves stone-fired pizza, breakfast sandwiches, specialty coffees and pastries.  We are located at the start of the trail in Whitetop, VA.  Riders can begin their ride directly from the campground and enjoy riding the entire trail to Abingdon, VA (34 miles) or to Damascus, VA (17 miles).  Shuttle services are available from several businesses to return you and your bike to Whitetop.

The Grayson Highlands trailhead is only 7 miles away.  Hike above tree line and visit the wild ponies.  Hike to to the highest peak in Virginia (Mt Rogers 5728′)

Drive to the peak of nearby Whitetop Moutain, the 2nd highest mountain in Virginia at 5518 feet.  Featuring 360 degree views and a short hike to Buzzard’s peak.   A short 8 mile drive to experience spectacular views.

2024 Season Updates

Open April 26 – November 3, 2024

Maximum RV Trailer Length we can accommodate is 28 feet.  We are a small mountain-top campground near the Virginia Creeper Trail accessible only via some curvy roads.  

Early in Spring and late in Fall the RV water spigots and slop sink may be off for cold temperatures.  You may fill up your water tank near the camp store.  Bathrooms and showers will still be open.

About Creeper Trail Campground

Creeper Trail Campground is the best place to camp while riding the Virginia Creeper Trail.  We are located at the start of the trail in Whitetop, VA. Riders can begin their ride directly from the campground and enjoy riding the entire trail to Abingdon, VA (34 miles) or to Damascus, VA (17 miles). Shuttle services are available to return you and your bike to Whitetop.

We offer RV Sites with electric, water, and some septic hookups. We accommodate up to 28 foot RVs or 28 foot pull-behind campers (not including truck length). We have primitive tent camping and several group tent camping sites. Our bathhouse is newly renovated.

Creeper Trail Campground is a small campground in the mountains at 3534 ft elevation. We are located on a former Christmas Tree farm. Escape the heat and enjoy some of the most beautiful outdoor recreation sites in Virginia including hiking to see the wild ponies in the Grayson Highlands or visiting the two highest peaks in Virginia (Mt. Rogers 5728′ and Whitetop Mtn. 5518′). The area offers excellent trout and fly-fishing streams.
